Metsä Wood has vast experience in the sawmilling and planing industry. Kiln drying expertise in this process gives Metsä Wood the advantage of being able to integrate special drying procedures to provide unique solutions whether for internal or external applications.

Our sawmills operate the most advanced kiln drying techniques. Kiln drying enables us to ensure specialised final moisture content in the end product by observing the wood characteristics during the process in consideration to the desired result.  A modern moisture control interface and use of steam in the early stages of special kilning provides a high yield of suitable material with minimum splits and shakes. The steaming process in the final part of the process enables provision of an improved moisture content differential throughout the piece reducing internal stresses. We are able to offer bespoke kilning processes to meet individual drying requirements.

By understanding the customer’s manufacturing process, final product end use and its destined equilibrium moisture content, Finnforest is able to deliver the most suited special dried raw material directly to the customer’s process. Our raw material is also able to meet geographically differing weather conditions and its challenges to wood products.
