Metsä Wood UK recognises and acknowledges that social and environmental responsibilities are important to corporate productivity and profitability, and are part of a sound business strategy. We appreciate that as a part of a large corporation we have both local and global impacts on the environment and communities, as well as a commitment to meeting customer demands, improving performance and maintaining a highly motivated and trained workforce.
Undoubtedly the most important issue to face Metsä Wood is the sourcing of our raw material; timber. Timber is one of the few building and construction materials that can claim to be a truly renewable resource, if well managed. Metsä Wood as a core business activity of Metsä Group supports forest certification as a valuable instrument for demonstrating that the wood products have originated from sustainable sources. Metsä Wood are fully committed to encouraging and promoting sustainable forestry practices. Our
Timber Procurement Policy recognises the influence we can have through our purchasing in preserving this renewable natural resource.
We are both FSC and PEFC certified across all our UK sites. We work closely with our customers to help them meet their requirements such as timber source or social responsibility reporting.
 | Metsä Wood is a member of the TTF and is therefore committed to implementing an environmental due diligence system to fulfil its responsible purchasing commitments. |
 | Sedex, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, is a not for profit membership organisation for businesses committed to continuous improvement of the ethical and responsible practices in their supply chains. Sedex offers member companies a secure web-based platform for sharing information on four key pillars: health and safety, labour standards, business integrity and the environment. Sedex was created with the mission, to reduce duplication of ethical data in the supply chain and help drive improvements in working conditions. |
Forest Certification and Chain of Custody give customers the confidence that the timber they purchase is from well-managed forests. BM TRADA externally audits Metsä Wood UK for Chain of Custody and traceability for all our certified timber.
