The X-ray technology makes it possible to extract the desirable natural characteristics of wood with the end product in mind early in the production stage prior to log conversion. X-ray enables the identification and characteristics that are found in the log making log allocation more efficient. Density and heartwood along with knot distribution can be sorted as can unwanted defects discarded improving yields immensely.
