ThermoWood
Ecological solution

Metsä Wood ThermoWood® is thermally modified wood using steam and heat. This process has a permanent effect on the wood’s properties providing excellent durability, dimensional stability and thermal insulating qualities. The improved features of ThermoWood diminish the potential for shrinkage, warp or twist and ensures that the product keeps its appearance for a long time.

The thermal conductivity of ThermoWood is reduced by 20-25% compared with normal Nordic premium timber; therefore it is a natural insulation solution in applications where improved U-values are needed. Metsä Wood Nordic premium timber as ThermoWood is available in two treatment classes: Thermo-S for internal use and Thermo-D for external use.

Due to its unique characteristic ThermoWood is widely used in door and window solutions, claddings, building components and garden products.

Metsä Wood also produces planed claddings and garden structures in ThermoWood, bringing this technology to customers either as a finished product or supplied as a raw material.
